If you’ve been following our progress on the Egeland Residence, a custom home we are building in the Highlands in Bend, Oregon, you know that it’s a busy place. It’s a big project (approximately 6,800 square feet) and as the general contractor, we’re managing quite a few crews on site.
Warm and Green: Using a Heat Pump
The Desert Rain House has many elements that make it the most green custom home we have ever built. ...The heat pump (Daikin Altherma) installed by Bobcat & Sun is an innovative system that heats the home, produces domestic hot water, and can even cool spaces.

at the Tetherow Clubhouse Expansion, Kelly Moyes was just prepping a knee brace for one of the exterior gabled ends. Kelly is the project lead for TAC Construction, the framing company we’re working with on this commercial construction project.

Best Architectural Design 2013
We’re honored that the Northwest Contemporary home we’ve recently completed in Tetherow has been named Best Architectural Design in the $700,000-$800,000 category as part of the 2013 COBA Tour of Homes.
Greywater System Approval: a Big Step for Green Building in Bend
Desert Rain, the uber green, custom home we are building, is the first home in Bend, and in the entire state of Oregon, to receive a residential waste water permit. This means we have approval to use the grey water system that will treat and reuse waste water from sinks showers and laundry.
A Classic Custom Home in Tetherow
As construction progresses and we race toward the finish line, all the elements of this classic custom home are coming together. We’ve got paint on the walls and trim, cabinets are in, appliances are arriving, and tile work is nearing completion. From here on out, progress will seem like it’s in hyper-drive (that’s just the way it goes in home construction).
Using a Greener Stucco
ome stuccos are greener than others and we’re just wrapping up work with one of the most sustainable stuccos available. ...Though not as commonly used today, lime has many advantages over cement. It is a nearly carbon neutral material. The lower environmental impact of lime is definitely important in the construction of this Living Building Challenge project.
